Simply, this lamp is a style icon. They had Anglepoise lamps in Lancaster bombers (for the navigator) you know?
The base is very heavy so there's no fear that it will ever fall over.
If you just want something to generate light, save your money. However, if you appreciate great British design that makes you feel good when you see it, then this is the one to buy.
